Ernest I. Stemle, 68

Ernest I. Stemle, age 68, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 6:49 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born March 16, 1945 in Schnellville, Indiana to Maurice and Catherine (Miller) Stemle.

He married Caroline S. “Susie” Blessinger on June 26, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Mr. Stemle was a factory worker and supervisor; a 1963 graduate of Birdseye High School; a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Schnellville Conservation Club, Sportsman’s Club, A.A.R.P., and N.R.A.; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, and participating in horseshoe tournaments.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline S. “Susie” Stemle of Huntingburg; one daughter, Marcia R. Stemle of Huntingburg; six sisters and three brother-in-laws, Rose (Manfred) Groemminger, Rita Klem, Clara (Leonard) Fischer of, all of St. Anthony, Hilda (James) Hoing of Huntingburg, Dorothy Blessinger of Schnellville, and Carol Stemle of Schnellville; and one grandson, Ryan A. Lehmkuhler of Huntingburg.

Funeral services for Ernest I. Stemle will be held at 10:00 a.m., EST, on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg).

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon.
