Ernest Scoudan, 88, Velpen

Ernie Scoudan, 88, of Velpen, passed away at home surrounded by family on December 21, 2023.

Ernie was born on Feb. 27, 1935.

Ernie was a charming, strong-willed, determined man with a traveling spirit. With his devoted wife of 62 years, Ella, by his side, they moved over 20 times to pursue bigger and better opportunities.

He visited all 50 states and cruised to many destinations throughout the Caribbean in his lifetime, finding his soul most at rest in the magic of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Ernie built two successful businesses in Indiana and Florida, providing honest, thoughtful assistance to those needing insurance while providing comfort and security for his family.

He spent his free time playing the organ, producing midi music, following trends in aviation and auto racing, and enjoying good food, most often prepared by Ella. 

He is survived by his wife, Ella (Andres) Scoudan; sister, Sandra Bennett; daughters, Laura Wininger and Leigha Scoudan; granddaughter, Miranda Birkle; great-grandson; two nephews; and many extended family members.

A celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2024, at Venue 1408, located at 1408 N Main Street in Huntingburg.
