Ernest O. Werne, age 86

Ernest O. Werne, age 86 of Jasper passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday (December 10, 2011) at his home.

He was born June 10, 1925 at St. Meinrad, Indiana to Frank and Philomena (Rickelman) Werne. He married Irene Ackerman on October 21, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Ernest was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran and a retiree of the Jasper Corporation- Division of Kimball International where he had worked for 36 years.

He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church – Holy Name Society and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.

One daughter,

  • Diane Cloud, Richmond, IN

Two sons,

  • Stan Werne and spouse Sally, Jasper, IN
  • Ken Werne and spouse Mary Burnett, Lenexa, KS

Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Two sisters,

  • Betsy Aders,
  • Anna Mae Werne both of St. Meinrad, IN

Preceding him in death are one daughter, Jane Werne and one son Brian Werne. Five sisters,

Jean Murray, Loraine Fischer, Esther Stenftenagel, Mary Lou Erny and Dolores Werne also two brothers, Robert and Benno Werne.

Funeral services for Ernest Werne will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (December 13, 2011) in Holy Family Catholic Church with entombment in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday (December 12, 2011) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
