Erneda F. Reker, 93

Erneda F. Reker, age 93, of Dubois, Indiana passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.

Erneda was born in St. Anthony, Indiana on March 10, 1921 to Paul and Catherine (Volz) Merkley. She married Oscar Schnell on October 19, 1943, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 1957. She then married Joseph J. Reker on December 28, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1997.

Erneda was a lifelong farmer.

She was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and the St. Celestine St. Ann’s Society.

She enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

Erneda is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Seger, and her husband, Larry, of Huntingburg; one son, Ron Schnell, and his wife, Susan, of St. Anthony; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is one son, Donald Schnell, two sisters, Irene Egler and Edna Hurst, one brother, Erbin Merkley, and one half brother, William Haupt.

Funeral services for Erneda F. Reker will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Celestine Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Celestine St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
