Emerging Leaders, a giving circle established in 2012, is a way for individuals to pool their funds to strengthen communities in Dubois County. Each participant commits to giving as little as $120 per individual or $180 as a couple per year. Contributors then vote on where the grant will be directed.

To date, the local giving circle has granted over $18,000 to local charities.

Last year’s $5,000 grant went to Mentors for Youth, an organization that is dedicated to facilitating mutually beneficial relationships between youth and volunteers for the purpose of enhancing individual lives and the community. The grant was used to upgrade software that tracks the matches between youth and mentors in the program, allowing them to improve service and better monitor outcomes.

Nonprofits should apply via an online application found at www.elgiving.org no later than October 30. The giving circle will select the 2015 grant recipient at a live grant party on November 12. All 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in Dubois County are eligible to submit a nomination.
