Eloise L. Bodkins, 78, Newburgh

Eloise L. Bodkins, 78, of Newburgh, formerly of Jasper, passed away with her husband by her side at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

Eloise was born in Jasper on May 27, 1948, to Vincent and Alma (Eckert) Schmitt.  She married Larry Bodkins on September 13, 1969, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She was a graduate of Jasper High School and then graduated from the Evansville Beauty College.

She was a beautician for Dion’s and Bob’s Beauty Shop.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

Eloise enjoyed quilting, painting, drawing, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of almost 57 years, Larry Bodkins of Newburgh; two children, Brent (Tonya) Bodkins of Jasper and Amy (Preston) Kline of Chandler; five grandchildren, Dalton and Jerid Bodkins, and Aubreyanna, Addisyn, and Amilya Bagby-Kline, one great-granddaughter, Charleigh Bodkins; two sisters, Annette (Jerry) Patton of Huntingburg and Brenda (Glen) Heeke of Celestine; and one brother-in-law, John Park.

Preceding her in death is one sister, Mary Park, and a son-in-law, Brandon Bagby.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eloise L. Bodkins will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, at 214 E. 7th St., Jasper, IN, 47546, and one hour before services at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.
