Elmer A. Buechler, 82, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at home.

Elmer was born on January 20, 1932 in Celestine, Indiana to Anton and Monica (Schulz) Buechler. He married Lou Alice Kluesner on May 18, 1957 at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2013.

Elmer worked as a DHIA Supervisor for the Indiana State Dairy Association for 60 years.

He was a member of the Jasper High School Class of 1951, Holy Family Catholic Church, the Southwest Indiana Holstein Breeders Association, and a charter member of the Celestine Community Club. He also volunteered at the Dubois County Food Bank.

He enjoyed gardening, entertaining, and spending time with family, friends, and dairy associates. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Indianapolis Colts football fan.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Buechler, and Partner Bruce Fleck, of Jasper; three sons, Steve Buechler, and his wife Margie, of Ireland, Allen Buechler, and his wife Michele, of Indianapolis, and Mark Buechler, and his wife Beth, of Aurora, Ill.; six grandchildren, Matt and Brian Buechler, Beth Flamion, Tyler and Garrett Buechler, and Jared Buechler; four great-grandchildren,
Sarah, Maria, Katelyn Alice Buechler and Amelia Lou Flamion; three sisters, Lois Hopf, of Jasper, Lorraine Wendholt, and her husband Eddie, of Jasper,  and Virlee Englert, of Jasper; two brothers, Clarence Buechler, and his wife Margaret, of Celestine and Robert F. “Bob” Buechler, and his wife Shirley, of Celestine.

Preceding him in death besides his wife is one infant son, Kevin Buechler.

Funeral services for Elmer A. Buechler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
