Ellspermann to attend Celebration of Courage Brunch

The cause is extremely important.

And a good time is practically guaranteed.

On Saturday, September 21, Crisis Connection Inc. will host its annual Brunch and Silent Auction in the community room at Heritage Hills Baptist Church, west of Santa Claus on SR 162 (just off US 231 at the Santa Claus exit).

Doors open at 9 a.m. Central, 10 a.m. Eastern.

The food will be fantastic. Shelly Morris caters every year and to say attendees just enjoy her fare would be an understatement. An amazing chef, she offers all sorts of tantalizing delicacies. The meal alone is well worth the cost of admission.

Special guest this year will be Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann who, in her previous life as a facilitator, helped the organization develop a comprehensive plan.

A special award will be given to a community member who helps further Crisis Connection’s mission. In addition, the Courage Award will be bestowed on a family who suffered abuse but survived the trauma and lived to share their experiences.

However, most of the morning is dedicated to fun. Entertainment will be provided by Michael Cummings and Friends who will serenade guests while they dine and while they peruse the incredible array of silent auction items.

There are too many auction items to list, but here is a sampling: A love seat from Indiana Furniture, water park passes to Big Splash Adventure, necklace from Simply Lula, day on a pontoon boat with host, Fr. John Boeglin, gift certificates from kg Photography in Loogootee and the Mill House in Jasper, a trailer hitch and truck steps from Meyer Distributing, several Vera Bradley items, KAVU sling bag and wallet, cuckoo clock from Germany, wooden toys from Germany, 132 piece tool set, night at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House, two Tower of Toys sets, one for boys and one for girls, an art and craft tower, IU shirts and so much more.

The events ends at 11:30 (12:30 EDT), so as not to take up too much of a person’s day.

Tickets are $25 per person and, preferably sold in advance but can also be purchased at the door. To reserve tickets call the office at 812-482-1555.

Anyone wishing to donate an item or items for the Silent Auction should call the same number.
