Ella Mae Nigg, 90, of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Haysville, Indiana for many years, passed away at 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Daviess County Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana.

Ella was born on August 10, 1924 in Haysville, IN to George and Anna (Huebner) Eisenhut. She married Leander Nigg on February 11, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1980.

Mrs. Nigg owned a poultry business with her husband for many years. She was also employed by the Kimball Company for ten years, in the Organ Division. It was there that she produced the pedal boards for the Kimball organs. Her other employment included ten years at the Jasper Glove Company and most recently, she owned and operated the School House Antique Shop at the Haysville School. She closed the shop in 1998.

Mrs. Nigg was involved with many organizations in her community. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Haysville and for a time was a Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Church at Dubois Crossroads. She was a life member of the Haysville Fire Department Auxiliary, as well as a life member of the VFW Auxiliary of Jasper. She also was a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Jasper.

Ella Mae’s interests were many. In addition to her family, she loved gardening, arts and crafts, antique collecting and visiting with people. She was also known for her love of garage sales. Whether it was her sale or one she was attending, her enthusiasm was exuberant.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Nigg, and his partner, Dee Dee Scheid, of Jasper, James Nigg, and his partner Jacqueline O’Neill , of Wilmington, Dela., and Joey Nigg of Jasper;  four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are two brothers, Marvin and Radus Eisenhut, and one sister, Rosalee Bair.

Funeral services for Ella Mae Nigg will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Haysville. Pastor Charla Grieves will officiate.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The WELCA will have a service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
