Elizabeth F. “Betty” Morris, 90

Elizabeth F. “Betty” Morris, 90, of Birdseye, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at The Timbers of Jasper.

She was born June 5, 1923, in Kyana to Martin and Mary (Gunselman) Steffen. Elizabeth married Harry L. Morris on November 4, 1940 in St. Martins Catholic Church in Siberia. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1981.

Elizabeth is survived by six daughters, Sharron Cross of Princeton, Ky., Shirley Grundhoefer of Owensboro, Ky., Doris Pfaff and husband John of Birdseye, Donna Hasenour and husband Michael of Huntingburg, Debra Kunkler and husband John “Koonie” of Dale, and Ruth Rasche and husband Lester of Ferdinand; one step-daughter, Mary Lou Foster of Galena, Ind.; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; two sons, David and Dennis Morris; four brothers, Lawrence, Sylvester, John and Aloysius Steffen; two sisters, Matilda Abell and Clara Gunselman.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-8:00 PM CST and Saturday from 7-9:30 a.m. CST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. CST in St. Martin of Tours Church in Siberia with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
