Eleanora I. Schaeffer, 90, Dale

Eleanora I. Schaeffer, 90, of Dale, passed away on Jun 14, 2026, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery with family at her side.

Eleanora was born to Bernard and Theresia (Jacob) Beier on September 11, 1935.

She married Ervin “Blackie” Schaeffer on May 1, 1956. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1975.

Eleanora enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, and quilting. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dale. 

She is survived by her three sons, Mark (Kathy) Schaeffer of St. Anthony, David (Jeanne) Schaeffer of Ferdinand, and Jeff (Ann) Schaeffer of Birdseye; 11 grandchildren, Dustin (Cori) Schaeffer, Clint (Jenna) Schaeffer, Cassandra (Kyle) Lechner, Amy (Dustin) Staves, Heather (Trevor) Fischer, Stephanie (Zach) Fischer, Kurt (Jennifer) Schaeffer, Eric (Aundrea) Schaeffer, Vanessa (Logan) Newton, Josh (Andi) Schaeffer, and Amanda (Michael Aders) Schaeffer; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorine Voegerl of St. Anthony. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anges (Hanser) Dilger; and seven brothers, Edward, Robert, Hugo, Carl, Linus, Joseph, and Richard Beier.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. CDT at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dale. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the church from 8:00 a.m. CDT until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. CDT.
