Eleanor “Ellie” P. Eckert, 88

Eleanor “Ellie” P. Eckert, 88, passed away at 8:59 p.m . Monday, November 24, 2014, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born December 22, 1925 Schnellville, Indiana to John and Barbara (Fritz) Schuch. She married Adolph (Bill) Eckert July 22, 1947 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, He preceded her in death on October 11, 2004.
Eleanor along with her husband operated Eckerts Tavern in Jasper until 1987.
She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Society, Daughter of Isabella and the V.F.W. Auxiliary to V.F.W. Post #673 in Jasper along with other service organizations.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Jane Brooks and husband, Jeff, of Kennilworth, Ill.; three sons, Leonard Eckert and wife Peggy, of Jasper, Jon Eckert and wife, Barbara, of Louisville, Ky., and Tom Eckert and wife Becky, of Evansville; seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is one son James “Gus” Eckert; granddaughter, Yvette Michelle Eckert;. four brothers, Isadore, Victor, Theodore and Leo and three sisters, Leona Berg, Delphine Schnell and Mary Rose Ankenbrock.
Funeral services for Eleanor Eckert will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, in S t. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from2-8 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the D of I’s and the St. Ann’s Society at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
