Eleanor E. Gogel, age 95, of Jasper, IN, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September, 9 2013, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, IN.

Eleanor was born on June 2, 1918 in Jasper, IN to Henry and Philomenia (Gramelspacher) Lechner. She married Elmer Gogel on July 23, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1986.

She was a homemaker, and worked as a custodian for Precious Blood School for over 25 years. She also worked at Yaggi’s and the Chicken Place restaurants.

She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, the St. Ann’s Sodality and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella.

She enjoyed quilting, baking, crocheting, camping, and playing cards.

She is survived by seven daughters, Phyllis Fischer, Dubois, Patricia “Patti” Hasenour and her husband Robert, St. Anthony, Ramona Buechler, Celestine, Kathleen Eckerle and her husband Gene, Jasper, Rebecca Frey and her husband Paul, Lamar, Marilyn Schnaus and her husband Ken, Jasper, and Marlene Voegerl and her husband Stephen, Eckerty; four sons, Phil Gogel and his wife Dianne, Ireland, Paul Gogel and his wife Paula, Ferdinand, Thomas Gogel and his wife Angie, Huntingburg, and Elmer Gogel Jr. and his wife Christine, Ireland; 45 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Virgil Lechner, Jasper.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one son, William “Sonny” Gogel, one brother Vincent A. Lechner, five sisters, Cordella Hopf , Florence Hurst, Rosetta Keusch, Marcella “Sally” Heim, and Ruth Schmitt. Four Grandchildren, Bryan Hasenour, Wayne Hasenour, Mary Hasenour, and Kurt Eckerle.

Funeral services for Eleanor Gogel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September, 13 2013 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September, 12 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at church. The St. Ann’s Sodality and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m.
