Eldena M. Petry, 95

Eldena M. Petry, age 95, of Jasper passed away at 11:10 p.m. Monday (May 6, 2013) at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Eldena was born on January 12, 1918 to Thomas and Effie (Frank) Baker. She married Raymond L. “Peach” Petry on August 16, 1938 at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana. They were married for 67 years before his death on December 4, 2005.

Eldena was a talented seamstress, and spent many hours sewing quilts at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville. Her love in her kitchen was cooking and baking.

She was an avid card player and loved watching Indiana University Basketball.

She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and women of the church in Haysville. She was also a member of the Haysville Senior Citizens’ Club.

Two sons,

Bill Petry, and his wife Donna, Washington, IN

Gary Petry, and his wife Sherry, Jasper, IN

Five Grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren

One Sister,

Lucille Rudolph, Jasper, IN

One niece, who was raised by Eldena and Peach after her mother’s death,

Becky Buse, and her husband Ervin, Terre Heute, IN

Preceding her in death are three sisters, Lavella Baker, Anita Hoffman, and Mabel Egg, and two brothers, Milfred and Lowell Baker.

Funeral services for Eldena M. Petry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (May 9, 2013) at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, with burial to follow the Community Cemetery in Haysville. Pastor Timothy Kraemer will officiate.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (May 8, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
