Elaine Claire Grundhoefer, 76, Santa Claus

Elaine Claire Grundhoefer, 76, Santa Claus, passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.

She was born in Dale Feb. 19, 1940, to Harold and Ella (St. Claire) Byers. She married Marvin Grundhoefer July 9, 1960. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1995.

Mrs. Grundhoefer was a graduate of Dale High School and went to cosmetology school. After retiring from her beautician and post office work, she enjoyed traveling, the ocean and beaches of south Florida during the winter, playing bridge and watching birds.

She is survived by a daughter, Sherri Grundhoefer of Bloomington; a son, Timothy Grundhoefer of Singapore; three brothers, Harold (Nancy) Byers of Highland, Ill., Gary (Barbara) Byers of Dale and Sam (Gail) Byers of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Terri Byers of Greenwood; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Wahl, and a brother, Ronald Byers.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. EST Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.

There will be no services. Burial of the cremains will be in Santa Claus United Methodist Cemetery at a later date.
