Edwin J. Schneider, 90
Edwin J. Schneider age 90 of Jasper passed away at 3:15 A.M. Monday June 13, 2011 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born July 13, 1920 in Celestine to: Valentine and Ottilia (Kapp) Schneider.
He married Margie Schnarr April 20, 1946.
Memberships include: St. Joseph Catholic, VFW Post 673, American Legion Post 147
He was a WW2 Army Veteran in the Big Red One. Involved in the first wave at Omaha Beach in Normandy. In 2001 he was awarded the Living Veteran of the Year.
He was a 10 year volunteer at Jasper Memorial Hospital, Member of the Men’s League at Municipal Golf Course, member of the Hole in One Club. He had a private pilot’s license and he built his own plane. He was a NARFE member. He and his wife were world wide travelers
He was an Engineer for the VA Hospital in Indianapolis where he retired after 25 years in 1981.

- 1 son E. John Schneider II and his Sarah of Indianapolis
- 2 daughters-Mrs. Phillip (Penny) Woodward of Brownsburg IN. and Mrs. Mark (Patti) Kopp of Greenville SC
- 8 Grandchildren
- 8 Great Grandchildren
Preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister
Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Friday June 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post 673 will conduct the Military Grave Side Rites.
