Edwin “Ed” V. Schepers, 74, St. Anthony
Edwin “Ed” V. Schepers, 74, of St. Anthony, passed away surrounded by family at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ed was born in Jasper on November 19, 1951, to Frank and Hilda (Merkley) Schepers.
He married Trina Messmer on April 22, 1972, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana.
He was a graduate of Dubois High School.
He retired from Southern Indiana Hardwoods, where he had worked for over 30 years.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Celestine Community Club, the Schellville Conservation Club, the St. Anthony Conservation Club, and the Birdseye Conservation Club.
Ed enjoyed playing horseshoes, playing cards, especially Sheepshead, mushroom hunting, watching NASCAR, and spending time with family and friends. He was also very well known for handing out suckers to any children that he met.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Trina Schepers of St. Anthony; four children, Bonnie (Brent) Lane of Birdseye, Greg (Angie) Schepers of North Port, Fla., Terry Schepers of Ferdinand, and Jonathon (Brittany) Schepers of Birdseye; nine grandchildren, Lexie and Colin Lane, Bryce, Desiree, and Grant Schepers, Ruby and Harmony Schepers, and Carter and Loren Schepers; siblings, Norma Mitchell, Clara (Mike) Blount, Allan Schepers, Susie (Richard) Dooley, Dorothy Persohn, Sandy Deich, Barbara Strange, and Janet Schepers; one sister-in-law, Eileen Schepers; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are three brothers, Leroy, Jim, and Tom Schepers, four brothers-in-law, Emmett Mitchell, Mike Persohn, Roger Deich, and Randy Strange.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin Schepers will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Wednesday.
