Edward R. Schum, 61

Edward R. Schum, 61, of Ferdinand passed away October 9th at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, Jasper.

He was born June 25, 1954 in Huntingburg to Victor E.  & Mary Helen (Weyer) Schum. He married Elizabeth J. “Betty” Hartings on April 8, 1978.

Edward was a truck driver for OT Trucking. He was a former construction worker and farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with family & friends and his grandchildren. He graduated from Dale High School and was a lifelong member of St. Ferdinand Parish. Edward was a cornea donor.

Surviving are his wife Elizabeth J. “Betty” Schum; three daughters, Gwen Boeglin and husband Alvin, Emily Schipp and husband Adam both of Ferdinand and Katie Wickizer and husband Adam of Williamsburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Owen, Avari, Easton Boeglin, Addison and Kenley Schipp, and Olive Wickizer; two sisters, Jane Daunhauer and husband Melvin and Ruth Hoppenjans and husband Dan, both of Ferdinand; one brother, Dan Schum and his wife Mary of Ferdinand; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14th in St. Henry Catholic Church, burial to follow in St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery, Ferdinand. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
