Edward John Weigel, 89

Edward John Weigel, age 89 of Jasper, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (January 24, 2013) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born January 3, 1924 in Boone Township, Indiana to jakob and Edna (Huebner) Weigel. He married Fronia Partenheimer Peterson March 28, 1959 in the Holland Augutana United Church of Christ; She preceded him in death on December 26, 2011.
Edward was a veteran of the United States army. He owned and leased Semi’s to Jasper Chicago. He had worked for the Jasper Wood Products for twenty years and retired from the Jasper Chair Company where he had worked for twenty-years.
He was a member of the Holland United Church of Christ, forty nine year member of the Holland American Legion Post # 0343 and a fifty year member of the Huntingburg V.F.W Post # 2366 .
He enjoyed playing golf, also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team.

- Joan Knight and husband Ray, West Baden Springs, IN
- Linda Jane Barnett, Holland, IN
Brother, Jim Weigel and wife Colleen, Huntingburg, IN
Eight grandchildren, Twelve great step grandchildren.
Also nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his wife is a step-daughter, Jo Ann Messmer and a sister, Marie Saffer.
Funeral services for Edward J. Weigel will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (January 28, 2013) at the Becher – Kluesner Downtown Chapel with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Rev. Debbie Roe will officiate. Huntingburg V.F.W. Post # 2366 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday (January 27, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland United Church of Christ, the American Cancer Society or to the American heart Association.
