Edward “Joe” Schitter, 82, Clermont, Fla.

Edward “Joe” Schitter, 82, of Clermont, Fla., passed away in the early morning of December 17, 2022, at home.

Joe was born in Ireland, Ind., to Tom and Sally Schitter.

He married Gretchen Schroedel on February 17, 1968, in St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

He graduated from El Camino College and spent his third year at Cal State Long Beach, majoring in physical education. He worked for North American Rockwell (Boeing) in Los Angeles. He moved his family to Clermont and eventually retired from sales within a branch of the citrus industry.

There are cherished memories of Joe’s love of travel, sports, domino dinners, volunteering for Senior Services and floating his pontoon around the chain of lakes.

He is survived by his wife Gretchen, son, John Thomas (Christine); sisters, Gladys Knust, Linda Durcholz, and Pamela Jarboe (Bruce); brother, Patrick (Phyllis).

Preceding him in death are his father and mother.

As he wished, there will be graveside services for Joe on December 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill cemetery in Clermont, Fla.
