Edward J. Striegel, 80, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:41 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Edward was born in Celestine, Indiana on August 12, 1934 to Oscar and Anna (Knies) Striegel.
Edward retired from Krodel Wholesale in Jasper, Indiana. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, the American Legion Post #147, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading.
He is survived by his three sisters, Betty Burger of Jasper, Lorraine Buechlein of Jasper, and Gloria Williams and her husband Pat, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; two brothers, Victor Striegel of Jasper and Kenneth Striegel of Medora, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is one brother Robert Striegel, and two sisters, Lucille Wigand and Mary “Mae” Hasenour.
Funeral services for Edward Striegel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with entombment to follow in Fairview cemetery mausoleum. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Precious Blood Church will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m.
