Edward F. Reckelhoff Sr., age 91, of St. Anthony, Indiana passed away at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
Edward was born in St. Anthony, Indiana on September 26, 1922 to Henry and Elizabeth (Buechler) Reckelhoff.
He married Emma Jacobs on June 7, 1944 in St. Joseph Catholic Church Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 6, 1970. His second marriage was to Anna Mae Erny in May 22, 1971 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2014.
He was a lifetime farmer in the St. Anthony Area, and also was an claims agent for Celestine Mutual Fire Insurance.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, the Celestine Community Club, the St. Anthony and Schnellville Conservation Clubs, and the St. Anthony Community Center.
He enjoyed playing sheephead and dancing.
Edward is survived by four daughters, Clara Mae Roshone and her husband Jim, of Pierre, S.D., Kathy Meyer and her husband Larry, of Ferdinand, Joan Weyer and her husband Jeff, of Ferdinand, and Mary Voegerl and her husband Gary, of Jasper; ten sons, Rich Reckelhoff and his wife Joan, of Jasper, Paul Reckelhoff and his wife Laura, of St. Anthony, Clarence Reckelhoff and his wife Sharon, of Jasper, Tom Reckelhoff and his wife Phyllis, of Jasper, Eddie Reckelhoff Jr., of St. Anthony, Donnie Reckelhoff and his wife Pat, of Schnellville, Leon Reckelhoff and his wife Sue, of Jasper, Allen Reckelhoff and his wife Toni, of Jasper, Chris Reckelhoff and his wife Patty, of St. Anthony, and Matt Reckelhoff and his wife Laura, of Ferdinand; 36 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his two wives are five sisters; Minnie Schenetzke, Catherine Waninger, Rose Schwindel, Margaret Heeke, and Matilda Loechte, two brothers; Gus and Othmar Reckelhoff, one great-grandchild; Matthew Wood, and one daughter-in-law; Carolyn Reckelhoff.
Funeral services for Edward F. Reckelhoff Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.
