Edward Eugene Uppencamp, 87

Edward Eugene Uppencamp, 87, of Stendal, Indiana, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born March 3, 1928 in Pikeville, Indiana, to Ora and Geneva (Harris) Uppencamp.

Edward was united in marriage to his current wife, Hazel (Miller) Houchin, on December 23, 2008 in White Oak, Indiana.

Ed was a retired factory worker and farmer. He was a deacon and member of the Cup Creek General Baptist Church. He enjoyed music and played the guitar. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger days.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel (Miller) Uppencamp, who passed away in 1991; his second wife, Odean (Broyles) Uppencamp, who passed away in 2003; three sisters, Faye Mullen, Dora Mae “Mazie” Mullen and Shirley Hedges; and three brothers, Marvin Uppencamp, Roy Uppencamp and Donnie Uppencamp.

Ed is survived by his wife, Hazel Uppencamp of Stendal; two daughters, Carolyn Zins of Otwell and Sharon Schwenk of Petersburg; three sons, Dennis Uppencamp of Portersville, Gary Uppencamp of Otwell and Ronald Uppencamp of Winslow; two sisters, Rose Kamplane of Flat Rock, Ill. and Margaret Kasinger of Elberfeld; 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services for Edward Uppencamp will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Winslow.

The Reverend Jeff Crowe and Reverend Dale Frederick will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
