Edmund B. “Eddie” Kempf, 91

Edmund B. “Eddie” Kempf, 91, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
Eddie was born on April 16, 1923 in Dubois, Indiana to Bart and Mary (Heeke) Kempf He married Magdelena Brockman on November 9, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 6, 1999.
Eddie retired from the VFW Post #673 in Jasper where he worked as a bartender for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #673 where served as the post trustee and on the Honor Guard, a life member of the American Legion Post#147, a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the Jasper Outdoor Recreation.
He is survived by one daughter, Sara Gabrel and her husband Ed of French Lick; two sons, Allen “Rock” Kempf and his wife Lila of Haysville and Edwin Kempf of Jasper; eight grandchildren, Paul Gabrel and his wife Ann
Cody and Thomas Gabrel, Bart, Brice, and Bethany Kempf, John and Eddie Kempf; two great-grandchildren, James and Heather Gabrel; one brother, Arthur Kempf of Celestine.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were three brothers, Henry, Lawrence, and Roman Kempf
Visitation for Edmund Kempf will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Private gravesite services and burial will follow at a later date.
