Edith Marie Polen, 93

Edith Marie Polen, 93, of Huntingburg, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born to the late Perry and Susan Day on October 25, 1921.
Edith was a graduate of Huntingburg High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at her church and the former St. Joseph’s Hospital. She and her late husband, Tom Polen, began Polen’s Antiques in the basement of their home. The business quickly outgrew that location so they relocated it in 1965 to Gentryville, Indiana. The business has been in continuous operation for 50 years and is now operated by their son, Tim Polen.
Edith enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her friends; and loved spending time with and cooking for her family. She’ll be fondly remembered for her quick wit and her delicious chicken and dumplings.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Polen; her parents, Perry and Susan Day; and five brothers, Perry, Tom, Ray, Richard and David Day.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Susan (Paul) Schroeder of Huntingburg; her son, Tim Polen of Gentryville; two granddaughters, Lisa (Dan) Sanders of Evansville and Paula (Mike) Bell of Evansville; and three great grandchildren, Kyle Sanders, Hadley Bell and Jenna Bell
