Edgar F. Schlachter, 86

Edgar F. Schlachter, age 86, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, (July 21, 2013) at his home.

He was born October 2, 1926, in Jasper, Indiana, to Albert and Adela (Denning) Schlachter. He married Anna Mae Knies October 18, 1947 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.

Edgar served in the Army during WWII and retired from JOFCO Furniture Factory in Jasper where he had worked for 37 years.

He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society – St. Vincent DePaul Society – Life V.F.W. Post # 673 – Fifty year member of the Jasper Knight of Columbus and the Catholic Knights of America.

His hobbies, Woodworking, Winemaking, Jasper High School Sports and avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.

Diane Begle and her husband Alan, Ferdinand, IN

Two sons,

Mark Schlachter, Jasper, IN

Gary Schlachter and wife Christine, Cary, N.C.

Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Two sisters,

Alberta Stevens, Columbus, OH and Camilla Buschkoetter, Jasper, IN

Preceding him in death is one son Steven Schlachter.

Funeral services for Edgar Schlachter will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (July 24, 2013), in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military grave side rites.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday (July 23, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish Endowment or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
