Edawinna Anne Heeke, 62, Jasper

Edawinna Anne Heeke, 62, of Jasper, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
She was born on June 5, 1955, at Huntingburg to John and Priscilla (Doerner) Thurman. She married Bill Heeke on February 16, 1974. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1999.
Anne was a member of the graduating class of Jasper High School Class of 1973. She was a unit secretary at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper for 17 years.
She was well known for her volunteer work. She volunteered at the Community Food Bank from 1989 to 2000. She served as past president of the Jasper (Women) Jaycees from 1982 to 1983. She was the first female president of the Jasper Jaycee’s (1989 – 1990). She did volunteer work with the Jasper Little League concessions and Jasper Band Parents concessions for many years. She was very active in the Dubois County Democratic Party.
She was the 1993 recipient of the President Community Excellence Award presented by the Jasper Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by one son, Terry (Sherri) Heeke of Murrray, Ky.; one daughter, Amanda (Mike) Drew of Jasper; seven grandchildren; Bill, Charlie, Maude, Maris, Burns, Mathilda and Doerner; one sister, Angela Brooks of Jasper; two brothers, Scott Thurman of Indianapolis and Bernie (Tammy) Thurman of Jasper; stepmother, Jacqueline Thurman of North Vernon, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Carol (Larry) Zehr of Jasper, Linda (Brian) Trill of Jasper, Rose (Kenny) Leisman of St. Anthony and Mary (Gary) Buffington of Dale; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband Bill Heeke and one brother, Alan Thurman.
Mass of Christian Burial for Edawinna Heeke will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Food Bank.
