Eckerty man charged in Celestine burglary

An Eckerty man was transferred from the Crawford County Jail to the Dubois County Security Center after being connected to a Celestine burglary investigation.
Cody E. Froman, 27, Eckerty, was serving time in the Crawford County Jail but was brought to Dubois County Wednesday morning on a warrant charging him with a Level 4 felony count of residential burglary and Level 6 felony counts of auto theft, attempted auto theft and theft.
According to authorities, Froman was implicated in the burglary and theft at a manufactured home used for hunting and summer get-aways near Patoka Lake. The home belonging to Bernie Fallon is located on an Ellsworth Road property in Celestine.
The burglary investigation began after a deputy found the Ford Bronco normally blocking the lane to the home had been pushed out of the way in early February. The deputy determined someone had broken into the home. Besides missing propane tanks and clothing, food items from the freezer had been prepared and eaten and soft drinks and alcohol consumed.
The Ford Bronco’s ignition switch had been tampered with and busted in what appeared to be an attempt to steal the vehicle. A 1997 Forest River Ford RV had also been taken from the property. The RV was located at Froman’s property near Eckerty.
