Earl L. Englert, 83

Earl L. Englert, 83, of Jasper, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born in Japer, Indiana on January 19, 1931 to Basil and Mathilda (Schulte) Englert.
He married Betty Rowekamp on April 11, 1953 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Earl graduated from Jasper High School Class of 1949 and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Springs Valley Bank &Trust and had previously worked for German American Bank for 33 years. Earl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Jasper where he served as an adult server. Also a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus and Jasper Civitan Club.
His hobbies were baseball — he was a member of the Jasper Reds baseball team — and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Marsha Schneider and husband Don and Mary Wendholt and husband Greg, both of Jasper; sons, Mark Englert and wife Nancy, of Zionsville and Dr. Michael Englert M.D. and wife Julie, of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, Paul Schneider, Greg Schneider, Scott Wendholt, Ben Wendholt, Emily Edsensga, Jacqueline Englert, 2nd Lieutenant Kate Englert- US Air Force, Jessica Englert, Stephen Englert and Elizabeth Englert Also one great granddaughter, Hannah Schneider.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Linus Englert and Oscar Englert.
Funeral services for Earl Englert will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by members of St. Joseph Parish.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
