Dubois volunteer firefighter’s home destroyed; donations needed

Dubois Fire Department was dispatched to a residence fire this morning at 9:18 am where the home of Clint Eichmiller was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

According to Zach Eichmiller, Dubois Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer, the house located at Hillham Road, just south of State Road 56, was the home of his brother, Clint.

Neither Clint nor his wife, Trisha, were home at the time of the fire.

When Dubois Volunteer firefighters arrived at the home, flames were already coming through the roof and they were unable to save the structure. Zach also said the fire was difficult to fight due to the additions that had been built onto the house over the years.

The department suspects the fire originated in a wood-burning stove in the house.

Three trucks with 23 firefighters were on the scene with tanker and firefighter support from Orange County and Haysville Fire Departments.

The house is a total loss and all possessions were destroyed in the fire.

Anyone wishing to make donations to the Eichmiller family may do so at the drop-off location at St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads.
