Dubois County still under burn ban

A burn ban is still in effect in Dubois County. Despite the recent rainfall, the ground and vegetation remain very dry. Once there has been enough significant rainfall for the fire chiefs to deem conditions safe, a notice will be sent to all Dubois County residents.

The Dubois County Fire Departments remind everyone that the burn ban remains in place until further notice. The following activities are prohibited during the ban:

1. Open burning of any kind using conventional fuel such as wood, or other combustible matter, with the exception of grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane.

2. The burning of debris, such as timber or vegetation, including debris from building construction activities.

EXCEPTION: Campfires and recreational fires that are continuously attended and enclosed within a 48” maximum non-combustible barrier, ALL campfires must be attended until they are completely extinguished.
