Dubois County receiving $2.3 million from State mistake
Dubois County will be receiving approximately $2.3 million from the state most recent accounting error.
Yesterday the head of Indiana’s Department of Revenue Commissioner John Eckart announced he is resigning after officials found $206,000 in local option income tax money wasn’t distributed to 91 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
According to the state the problem occurred due to a programming error. The state has found $526 million in the past few months; $320 million was found late last year.
Figures from the state show the county will receive $1,422,861 in COIT funds and $948,603 in EDIT funds. County Treasurer Chad Blessinger stated the state has yet to advise the county how the funds should be distributed to the various local units.
