Dubois County Museum storytime to feature popular children’s authors

The Dubois County Museum will continue its Storytime program each month in 2026. 

The program is held on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Book Nook in the Little Pioneer’s area for the young visitors. Coordinator Carrie Holdsworth announced that in 2026, she will read books each month by renowned children’s authors.

On January 10, she will feature stories by Ezra Jack Keats. She will share A Snowy Day, Kitten for a Day and Louie.  Enjoy listening to how Peter spends his snow day outside in A Snowy Day.  What it is like for a puppy to spend a day with kittens in Kitten For a Day, and hear about a boy who likes puppets in Louie.

How well do you know your authors of children books? Holdsworth has outlined the authors she will feature each month, The list includes Mo Williams in February (Pigeon books and Knuffle Bunny, Dr. Seuss in March (Cat in the Hat), Sandra Boynton in April (Board books like I’m Going to Bed), Margaret Wise Brown in May (Goodnight Moon) , Eric Carle in June (The Very Hungry Caterpillar), July is Beatrix Potter (Peter Rabbit books), August is Leo Lionni (Frederick, Swimmy) , September is Robert McCloskey (Blueberries for Sal, Make Way for Ducklings), October is Maurice Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are), November is Lois Ehlert (Chicka Chica Boom Boom , Planting a Rainbow)  ) and December is Jan Brett. (The Gingerbread Man, The Three Snow Bears).

Each month, she will share several books by each author and invite our young visitors to make a take-home craft to keep.

The cost of the program is included in your museum admission. Admission is $5 per adult, $3 per high school student, $2 per middle or elementary school student, and children under 4 are free. Those holding a museum membership will be admitted free. Yearly memberships are sold at the lobby desk. Come enjoy a morning at the museum.
