Dubois County Museum announces extended hours
The Dubois County Museum is launching extended hours on the third Thursday of the month. The times will be from 10:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. on these dates for 2026: September 17, October 15, November 15 (coinciding with the Opening of the Festival of Trees Christmas Tree decorating voting contest viewing) and December 17 (coinciding with the Free Evening at the Museum to announce the winners of the Christmas Tree voting contest).
The 2027 dates will follow on the third Thursday of the month.
Admission will be charged. Admission is $5 per adult, $3 per high school student, $2 per middle school and elementary student, and free for children age 4 and under. Museum memberships will be honored.
The museum has had requests to extend our hours and has tried the extended hours during the Strassenfest with some success. Several volunteers have stepped forward to be present in the lobby area during this time. We hope visitors who stop by will not be disappointed that we close at the normal time of 2:00 p.m. We also hope school-age children and families take advantage of these hours to visit the museum after school. Homeschool groups can schedule tours, and parents with small children can have a place for their youngsters to move around inside the museum.
The museum is now air-conditioned in our large farm equipment room (Room Two), joining the other rooms that are already air-conditioned. All the rooms are now kept at a comfortable temperature.
Come enjoy the Best Museum in Indiana (as recently voted on by the readers of Indiana Connection Magazine) and the Largest County Museum in Indiana.
If anyone would like to volunteer at the museum during these times, please contact Kathy at 812-630-8696, Museum Volunteer Coordinator.
