Dubois County Leadership Academy looking for applicants

The Dubois County Leadership Academy’s steering committee has issued its call for applicants for its third annual class.

In its third year, the Leadership Academy is, again, seeking emerging leaders in Dubois County businesses, corporations, local governments, schools, etc. There are no age requirements.

The Dubois County Leadership Academy will meet a minimum of six times (four-hour sessions) at various locations across the County (a minimum of two times in Jasper, two times in Huntingburg, and two times in Ferdinand) from late March/early April to late July/early August. Past class topics have included leadership essentials, problem solving, government and public service, communications, and religious and civic leadership. In 2013, the Steering Committee will add entrepreneurship to that list in the form of a seventh class or by adjusting one of the other sessions.

Each academy culminates with a graduation ceremony and the presentation of capstone projects.

“One of the benefits of participating in the Dubois County Leadership Academy is being taken outside of one’s comfort zone,” said Jasper Mayor (and member of the Leadership Academy’s steering committee) Terry Seitz. “Through teamwork, collaboration and shared experiences, you will grow both personally and professionally.”

Participation in the Dubois County Leadership Academy requires “buy in” from the participant’s place of employment, as meeting times, typically, will be either in the morning or afternoon during normal business hours of operation. If chosen as a 2013 Leadership Academy participant, a $100 fee will be due at the first meeting (check made payable to the Town of Ferdinand). The Dubois County Leadership Academy is a county-wide initiative sponsored by the Leadership Pillars of the Ferdinand and Jasper HomeTown Competitiveness initiatives, the City of Jasper, the City of Huntingburg, the Dubois County Community Foundation, and Vincennes University Jasper Campus.
