ByLocal Sources Reading Time: 1 minute

In order to ensure a safe return home here are a few tips to help you after the eclipse has ended.

  • Stay awhile! Plan to stick around after the eclipse is over. This is a good way to avoid the major traffic rush.
  • Make sure that you clean up after yourselves and dispose of any trash in the proper locations or take your trash with you.
  • Designate a sober driver or arrange for alternate transportation.
  • Be patient!!!! Anticipate that traffic will be very heavy as you make your way home; everyone has the same mission to make it safely. Follow instructions from Law Enforcement or emergency personnel.
  • Have a paper map with you! This will help guide you out of your location, in case of a potential cell phone outage and your GPS on your phone not working.
  • Tune to the local Dubois County radio stations; 98.5 WQKZ; 100.9 WBDC, 103.3 WAXL; and 104.7 WITZ for all the latest weather, traffic updates and possible detours.
