Dubois County Dems to host talk on activism

Past Superintendent Glenda Ritz’s and Former Senator Kendall’s Campaign Manager to Speak About Activism and Values June 13th at Jasper Train Depot

Indianapolis Investment Banker Trish Whitcomb will be the featured speaker at a public dinner meeting at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 13, 2019, at the Jasper Train Depot, sponsored by the DuCoDem Party.

The title of Whitcomb’s speech is “Values, Rhetoric, and Organization—A Winning Formula for Activism.”

“Her presentation is for everyone—Republican, Democrat, or Independent—and a lesson in politics as a life of values spoken with candor and civility to bring about reform from neighborhood renewal to national politics,” said DuCoDem Chair Mike Kendall.

Whitcomb, a Seymour native, and daughter of the late Republican Governor and Baton Death March hero, Ed Whitcomb, is best known nationally as the former campaign manager and administrative director for past Indiana State School Superintendent Glenda Ritz. In her current work as an investment banker, Whitcomb has been involved in creating public-private partnerships to fund projects throughout the state and Southwestern Indiana.

“Trish brings together a life of political experiences, integrates that with the current post-modern technology and social media, and bridges the gap between door-to-door politics and Twitter, for millennials, parents, and grandparents,” said Kendall.

Whitcomb coordinated then-State Senator Mike Kendall’s U.S. Senate campaign in 1982 and formed The Environmental Rights Foundation (“TERF”) with Kendall in 1992. Before working for Superintendent Ritz, she was President of Indiana Federation of Democratic Women. Whitcomb worked for Senator Birch Bayh in the 1970s.

Whitcomb helped develop and implement the Hoosier Family of Readers program, collaborated on policy development with the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Indiana to combat sex abuse of school-age children, and supervised implementation of the 21st Century Learning Centers grant. She also served as a member of the State Workforce Innovation Council, the Butler University College of Education Dean’s Advisory Council, and Board Member of Youth Build Louisville.

This DuCoDem special event at the Jasper Train Depot, 201 Mill Street, is free, open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. Food and Drink are free and will be provided by Jasper’s own “Dog Haus.” Trish Whitcomb will speak at 7, followed by questions, comments, and a live podcast.
