Dubois County Council budget hearing quiet and quick

The Dubois County Council held the public hearing on the 2015 county budget last night at 5:45 pm.

County Council President Greg Kendall called the meeting to order and asked if anyone was there to remonstrate for the budget.

County Auditor Kathy Hopf told those in attendance that the hearing was for the county budget, airport budget, Northeast Dubois County School Corporation budget, North East Dubois Fire District, and the Dubois County Solid Waste District budget.

No one came forward to speak, so the public hearing was closed.

Additional budget items included:

· General fund: $15,000.00 for the Coroner’s Department for Autopsy expenses. Passed.

· Cume Capital fund: $1,200.00 for a new laptop for CASA. Passed.

· Cume Capital fund: $5,700.00 for a new copier /printer / scanner for the Dubois County Superior Court, purchased from HBM in Jasper. Passed.

· Cume Capital fund: $5,700.00 for a new copier / printer / scanner for the Dubois County Probation Department. Identical to the one purchased above. Passed.

· An allocation of $1,100.00 for the Solid Waste District to add to the expenditure for box truck. Passed.

· Edit fund: $6,000.00 for six months of rent at $1,000.00 for rent for a temporary location for the Huntingburg Ambulance, which will be located in a building owned by Steinkamp’s in Huntingburg. The rental location is temporary until the new ambulance building renovation is completed by the City of Huntingburg. Huntingburg is also contributing $1,000.00 towards the rent for the six month period as well. Passed.

The County Council will pass the budget in their regular monthly meeting on September 29th.
