Dubois County Community Foundation invests $450,000 in new Boys & Girls Club chapter

The Dubois County Community Foundation is proud to announce a $450,000 grant to support the startup and launch of the Boys & Girls Club of Dubois County.

Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe, supportive place where young people can learn, grow and thrive outside of school hours. Through positive relationships with caring adults, academic support and leadership development, Clubs help youth build the skills, confidence and character needed to succeed in school and in life.

The Boys & Girls Club of Dubois County was established in response to a growing community need identified by local schools and community stakeholders to better support vulnerable youth who may lack access to educational support outside the classroom.

A core program of the Club will be after-school tutoring and academic enrichment through Power Hour, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s nationally recognized homework help program. Power Hour gives students dedicated time to complete assignments, build academic skills and receive support from trained staff and volunteers. The program has been shown to build strong study habits, improve academic performance and increase students’ confidence
and preparedness for school.

Lilly Endowment Inc. supported this work through the Community Support Grant component of the ninth phase of its Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT IX) initiative, along with a local donor. This grant supports efforts to strengthen educational attainment and expand access to impactful youth programming to improve academic, social and lifelong outcomes.
