Dubois County Community Foundation CEO announces resignation

Dubois County Community Foundation CEO Brad Ward announced he will be resigning from the foundation to take a position as Director of Community Philanthropy at the Washington D.C. based Council on Foundations.
Ward and his wife Cara and daughter, Finley, will continue to live in Jasper. According to Ward, being able to remain in his hometown while working for the national organization was important in making the decision. He added that access to the cowork space, Current Blend, in Huntingburg will greatly assist his ability to work locally.
“The community should be proud of this team’s achievements, including the successful merger, the growth from $15 to $30 million in assets these past few years, and the opportunities it affords our region,” Ward said. “I am proud of what has been accomplished for the community and know it will continue to thrive.”
The Council on Foundations is a nonprofit leadership association of grantmaking foundations and corporations. The Dubois County Community Foundation is a member of the Council on Foundations and holds its national accreditation through the Council. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the Council provides leadership and support to over 400 member Community Foundations.
Ward’s position will provide thought leadership and service on national issues of community philanthropy and direct support to the field of Community Foundations across the United States.
“Brad has gained a national reputation in the community foundation field. This is a great opportunity for him, and we wish him the best in this new position,” said Foundation board president Pat Miller.
The board will appoint a search committee to find a new CEO and assess the organization’s needs to identify the characteristics, strengths and expertise needed in the next CEO.
Nona Baker, Director of Programs, will oversee day-to-day operations in the interim. “It will be business as usual for donors, nonprofits and professional advisors who rely on us for philanthropic guidance,” Baker said.
“The foundation is in a position of great strength,” said Miller. “We have a clear purpose and direction, a strong board, a talented and committed staff, and a solid financial base. I expect that many people will seek the opportunity to lead this organization into the future,” he said.
