Dubois County Civil Air Patrol Squadron inauguration on Dec. 16
The Patoka Valley Cadet Squadron, Civil Air Patrol’s newest unit, will celebrate its inauguration as a squadron at Southridge High School (1110 S Main St, Huntingburg, IN) on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST.
The unit formed in March of 2023 with the open house held at the Huntingburg Airport in April, and now, nine months later, the unit has 19 members with 13 cadets — six of which are approaching their first milestone promotion.
The unit assists the area with emergency services and, since forming, has assisted at two air shows and made appearances at two local parades. According to the leadership, 2024 will be an active year for the new squadron.
At the 16 December event, there will be a formal inauguration of the squadron, including a special change of command ceremony as this unit separates from its parent unit, the River City Cadet Squadron in Evansville. Two officers will also be promoted as leaders of the new squadron.
The community is invited to celebrate with the Patoka Valley Cadet Squadron.
We look forward to serving this community as we continue to grow and prepare young leaders who will serve their community, state and nation, the squadron stated in a press release about the event.
