Dubois County Chamber hosting free fraud prevention workshop for local businesses

The Dubois County Chamber of Commerce invites local businesses and employees to attend a free educational workshop, “Don’t Take the Bait: Fake Bills & Fraud Defense,” focused on helping businesses recognize and respond to counterfeit cash, fraudulent checks, and common scams affecting communities today.

This free workshop is made possible through the generous sponsorship and presentation support from Old National Bank, German American Bank, Freedom Bank, SVB&T, Liberty Federal Credit Union and the Huntingburg Police Department.

Attendees will hear directly from local banking and law enforcement professionals about the latest fraud trends affecting businesses and practical ways to protect their organizations. Topics will include:

  • Identifying counterfeit bills and fraudulent checks
  • Recognizing scam warning signs and suspicious activity
  • Best practices for handling suspected fraud
  • Who to contact and next steps when fraud occurs
  • Training employees to confidently respond to suspicious transactions

“Fraud prevention starts with awareness,” said Angie Sanchez-Hostetter, Executive Director of the Dubois County Chamber. “We wanted to bring together trusted local experts to provide businesses with real-world information and tools they can immediately put into practice.”

The Chamber encourages business owners, managers, front-line employees, cash handlers, and customer service staff to attend.
