Ann Nagy and “Exploding Cello”

The DCAG Gallery Walk exhibit changes every six months. The public is invited to the Jasper City Mill, open Thursday- Sunday.

Ann Nagy of Jasper is the featured artist for this time period. Ann currently is employed as the Coordinator of Music Ministries at Precious Blood Church in Jasper. She is married to James Nagy and has two children.

Ann is the oldest of 13 children. She expresses herself through music, visual arts, and writing. She began formal training in the arts at the Academy of Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, IN. where she received music and art diplomas. Academic and music performance scholarships allowed her to attend ISU in Terre Haute, Indiana. After earning a BS degree in Music Education, she earned a writer’s diploma from the Institute of Children’s Literature. Ann then completed her BS degree in Visual Art Education at USI in Evansville, IN.

“I am a versatile artist with creative talents and skills in several art forms: music, visual arts, teaching, and writing. My art tells stories about life. As an artist, I am intuitive, and I vary my choice of media according to what I feel would most effectively convey the thought, feeling or message I wish to share.”

Her visual art abilities encompass a variety of media and styles ranging from realistic to abstract. She is comfortable working in many types of media: photography, computer graphic design, culture, painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed-media, and collage.

“Every piece I create is original and expresses my feelings, thoughts and passions. I attribute my success in art to a combination of God given talent and the opportunities to be guided by my teachers, and other artists from whom I learn every day. Often, I feel that my art communicates an element of Divine Inspiration.”

“As a life-long learner and as an arts educator, my philosophy of education centers on the concept that success is measured on the basis of consistent improvement. I tell the students that in art there are No failures, and I show them how in the lives of famous artists, mistakes were often turned into great masterpieces. I believe that God intends us to make the best of what we are given and to appreciate His beauty of creation.”

In addition to Ann’s art, the guild has a collection of their artwork in the gallery walk.

All artwork at the Jasper City Mill DCAG Gallery Walk is original and for sale. The work consists of oil, watercolor, drawing, acrylic, photography, print, sculpture, and 3D wall pieces.
