Dubois County and communities received nearly $3 million in funding for roads

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced over $49 million in Community Crossings grants to Southern Indiana communities during a special ceremony in Evansville today.

In Dubois County, Jasper and Huntingburg each received the maximum amount of $1 million in matching grants, while the county itself received $476,306.22 and Ferdinand got $362,219.25.

The Dubois County Airport Authority requested $235,270 for a new t-hangar but they were not listed on the awards page put up by INDOT.

Around the area, Spencer County received $1,000,000, Dale got $81,582.00, Rockport $83,953.50, Santa Claus $113,612.50, Perry County $422,859.11 and Tell City $210,806.25.

The local road and bridge matching grant fund was created by the Indiana General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Mike Pence in March 2016. The grant program provides approximately $160 million in funding this year available to all Indiana cities, towns and counties on a 50-50 matching basis.

Projects that are eligible for funding through Community Crossings include road resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation, road reconstruction, resurfacing, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance in connection with road projects. Material costs for chip sealing and crack filling operations are also eligible for funds.
