Dubois County Airport Authority meeting; Duncan resigns, FBO prep, and Environmental Assessment moving ahead
The Dubois County Airport Board met Monday evening and learned that board member Bob Duncan has left the board. Board President Mike Cummings announced his departure during the meeting and said that the City of Huntingburg would need to appoint a new board member to fill the rest of Duncan’s term.
Duncan was former board president before Cummings was voted president in January of 2012.
With board member Brett Yourgans absent, that left the board with members Harvey Berger, Brian Craig and newest board member Bob Johnson, who replaced Raymie Eckerle last fall – along with Cummings.

-The board heard an update from Airport Manager Travis McQueen whose top priority is getting ready to take over Fixed Base Operator services from Dubois County Flight Services this month.
Last summer, Dubois County Flight Services informed the board that they would stop providing FBO services to concentrate on the profitable side of their business.
The administering of FBO services by the board required an increase in their annual budget.
-The board passed four motions that gave them the authorization to set costs on fuel and hangar pricing, and set after hours rates for services and operating hours as well.
According to McQueen the actions by the board on Monday have been the focus point of the staff for about the last three months. “Getting ready for day one which is March 22nd, so we’re really gearing up for that.”
-Also during the meeting the Board got good news from Woolpert Engineering representative Chris Snyder who told the Board that the Environmental Assessment for the 500 foot addition in length and 25 foot width expansion is moving ahead.
-A few local pilots in attendance suggested the airport upgrade their hangars. The local pilots stated that most airports have “T” Hangars, which are more modern ways to house small aircraft. The board talked about the possibility of getting funds for hangars by approaching the Dubois County Council to see if they can get an allocation of EDIT money to pay for the hangars.
