Duane A. Sermersheim, 62, Huntingburg

Duane A. Sermersheim, 62, of Huntingburg passed away at 10:00 a.m. CDT on Friday, February 26, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

Duane was born in Huntingburg on November 30, 1953, to Jerome A. and Laverne E. (Durcholz) Sermersheim.

Duane was a former owner/operator of the Shamrock Restaurant in Ireland. He was a member of the Ireland Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter, Starla Neidigh and husband Scott of Washington; one son, Justin Sermersheim and wife Jenny of Jasper; mother, Laverne E. Sermersheim of Jasper; five grandchildren, Brycen, Brant, and Maleigh Neidigh, Ellie Knies, and Dylan Sermersheim; four sisters, Connie Helming, and her husband Bernie of Jasper, Bonnie Keusch of Jasper, Carla Matheis of Washington and Lori Koerner and her husband Matt of Washington; five brothers, Gary Sermersheim and his wife Charlene of Ireland, Mark Sermersheim and his wife Sharon of Ireland, Nick Sermersheim and his wife Tammy of Ireland, Jeff Sermersheim and his wife Patty of Stendal and Daryl Sermersheim and his wife Beth of Boise, Idaho; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father, Jerome A. Sermersheim; brother, Reginald “Reggie” Sermersheim; brother-in-law, Dennis “Red” Keusch; and nephew, Derek Arvin.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass for Duane Sermersheim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow at a later date.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.
