The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 20-year-old Carlishia Dooley, of State Road 264, Ferdinand for several charges stemming from the accident near Bretzville Junction that took two lives last Tuesday.

Dooley was arrested today on a warrant issued from the Dubois County Superior Court charging her with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing a death and two counts of reckless homicide, both Class C felonies, and one count of driving while suspended (infraction).

She has been currently lodged in the Dubois County Security Center until a future court date has been determined.

State Road 64, east of Bretzville Junction, was closed for over two hours last Tuesday night due to an accident that took the life of two passengers in an SUV.

According to authorities, Dooley was eastbound on State Road 64 around 6:10 p.m. in a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer driving at a high rate of speed just east of the intersection with State Road 162 when she lost control. The vehicle hit a guardrail on the south side of the road and then went down an embankment through a tree. Deputies think at that point it may have overturned before coming to rest on its tires.

Saint Anthony fire fighters and first responders, along with Memorial Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident and worked on the two passengers, 20-year-old Jessica L. Morgan, of Birdseye, and 28-year-old Eric M. Bureau, of Dale, but the Dubois County Coroner’s Office pronounced both of them dead at the scene.

Dooley was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for undisclosed injuries and then transferred by LifeFlight to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. She is listed in stable condition at this time but the extent of her injuries was not released.

The SUV was considered a total loss.

The Ferdinand Police Department and several passing motorists also assisted the sheriff’s department, St. Anthony first responders and Memorial EMS at the scene.
