Driver cited in crash involving bicyclist

A bicyclist was injured when he was struck in a crosswalk on Portersville Road Monday.

Jasper police reported a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Alicen Ingle, 47, of Jasper, was northbound on the 3600 block of Portersville Road at 11:11 a.m. As she approached the crosswalk, Frank Ducett, 73, of Jasper, was attempting to use the crosswalk to cross the road.

Ingle struck the left side of the bicycle throwing Ducett onto the roadway. The bicycle ended up about 25 yards north of the impact, according to poice.

Ducett was taken to Memorial Hospital for his injuries. He sustained a broken ankle, a laceration to his head, and road rash over multiple areas of his body.

Police cited Ingle for failing to yield to a pedestrian resulting in bodily injury.

Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Indiana State Police assisted the Jasper Police Department.
