Dr. Matthew Keith Brittain, 40, Columbus, Ohio
Dr. Matthew Keith Brittain, 40, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

He was born on June 27, 1981, in Huntingburg and spent his childhood on his family’s farm in Ferdinand. He attended the University of Southern Indiana, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He was awarded a Doctorate in Toxicology from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Matt married the love of his life, Nicole, in 2007, and together they welcomed two children, Ben in 2011, and Claire in 2013. They relocated to Nicole’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio in 2012, where Matt clung to his Hoosier roots in a sea of Buckeyes.
An Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman, Matt enjoyed camping, woodworking, cooking, and serving others. When he wasn’t running his toxicology lab, he could be found coaching his son’s baseball team, directing traffic on Sundays in the church parking lot or fixing the roof at Agua Viva School in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. Most of all, though, he loved his family and was a wonderful father.
Matt is also survived by his parents, Dave and Becky (Begle) Brittain, Ferdinand; his brothers, Todd (Krystal) Brittain, Ferdinand and Josh (Courtney) Brittain, Loogootee; grandmother, Bernice Begle, Ferdinand; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service for Dr. Matthew Keith Brittain was held on Monday, June 6, at Schoedinger Northwest in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a graveside service at Clifton-Union Cemetery in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Agua Viva School (c/o Guatemala Children’s Mission) at https://www.aguavivaschool.org/donate/.
