Dr. Howard Andy Haas, 92

Dr. Howard Andy Haas, age 92, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 12:55 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born December 24, 1920 in Boonville, Indiana to Andy and Goldie (Baker) Haas.

He married Audrey Joyce Fink on March 19, 1954 in Conger, Minnesota.

Howard graduated from Tennyson High School in 1937; served in the United States Army during World War II and spent most of his overseas duty in Burma and India; he attended Evansville College and continued his education at Iowa State University graduating in 1954 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He was in Veterinary practice in Huntingburg for 41 years, retiring from practice in 1997.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, V.F.W. Post #2366, and a life member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeannette McGinness and Marian Helmbock.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Joyce Haas of Huntingburg, IN; one daughter and one son-in-law, Nancy Ann (Gary) Salb of Jasper, IN; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Ronald Haas of Forest Park, IL; Mark (Diann) Haas and Allen (Stephanie) Haas, both of Jasper, IN; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dr. Howard Haas will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites. The Rev. Mark West will officiate the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to: Salem United Church of Christ or The Merom Campership Fund.
